DEC Extends Air Quality Health Advisory Through Tuesday Night

The New York Department of Environmental Conservation (DEC) has extended an Air Quality Health Advisory through today, Tuesday, July 15th for the Central New York Region. The health advisory is due to the impact of smoke from wildfires in Canada. The advisory will now remain in effect until 11:59pm tonight.

Both the DEC and the Department of Health say levels of pollution, either ozone or fine particulate matter are expected to exceed an Air Quality Index value of 100. For the Central New York Region, the index value is expected to again reach 101 fine particles, which is considered unhealthy for sensitive groups.
