We’ve been telling you that the Highly Pathogenic Avian Influenza (HPAI) virus has been found in multiple wild bird species in several areas of New York State, including nearby Cayuga County.
Wild birds confirmed as infected include geese, swans, sanderling, ducks, great blue heron, eagles, owls, hawks, crow, and turkey vulture.
You can help. If you notice any suspicious deaths of these birds, let the local DEC office know.
You can call the Cortland office at 607-753-3095.
