The New York Department of Environmental Conservation has announced the opening season for both largemouth and smallmouth bass, otherwise known as Black Bass, will begin on June 15th.
The season will run through November 30th. However, throughout most of the state, catch and release season exists for December 1st to June 14th as well. The DEC reminds anglers to check current fishing regulations before they head out to fish as certain regulations may exist in some waters.
“New York is home to some of the world’s best fishing destinations, especially for largemouth and smallmouth bass,” DEC Commissioner Seggos said. “I encourage anglers of all abilities to get outside and explore the many special bass fishing opportunities our state has to offer.”
The DEC provides a website available for information on where to go bass fishing. This can be found HERE.
