For more than 100 years, the DEC has worked with hunters, conservation groups, 4-H clubs to raise and release ring-necked pheasants.
The goal is to improve public pheasant hunting in our state. The chicks are free to people who have the means to care for them. Applicants receive their chicks beginning in April.
DEC’s Reynolds Game Farm distributes over 30,000 day-old chicks to cooperators each year.
Visit DEC’s website to read more about the program including a pheasant rearing guide and the program application. Applications are due by March 25, 2022.
