The United States DEA’s launched their annual Red Ribbon Campaign, which is meant to unite communities across the country in a shared goal of preventing drug use and addiction.

The theme of this year’s endeavor is “Celebrate Life: Live Drug Free”, which serves as a reminder to all Americans that living a drug-free lifestyle greatly contributes to the health and safety of communities. The Red Ribbon Campaign also honors the life of Special Agent Enrique “Kiki” Camarena, who was killed by drug traffickers in March 1985.

Approximately 80 million people participate in Red Ribbon events each year.
