Cuyler Man Arrested After Stealing Over $1,000 Worth of Merchandise From Walmart

Around 11 in the morning on Wednesday, May 28th, officers with the Cortland County Sheriff’s Office responded to Walmart for a reported larceny. During their investigation of the larceny, officers determined 53 year old Jason W. Scutt Sr. of Cuyler, had stolen merchandise from the store valued over $1,000.

Scutt was also found to be in possession of a controlled substance during his arrest. He was charged with Grand Larceny in the 4th, a Felony, and Criminal Possession of a Controlled Substance, a Misdemeanor. He was taken to the Sheriff’s Office for processing and later arraigned via the Centralized Arraignment Process. Scutt was released on his own recognizance. He is due in Cortlandville Town Court next month.
