In 1969, Curt Flood of the St. Louis Cardinals challenged and beat down baseball’s reserve clause.
That led to free agency, and big money contracts.
Curt Flood’s daughter, Shelly, will be at SUNY Cortland Tuesday night to talk about her dad’s fight for civil rights in baseball.
She continues to lobby to get him inducted in the Baseball Hall of Fame.
She’ll also talk about how she fights drug addiction, gang violence and improve mental health among teenagers and the homeless in Los Angeles.
Shelly Flood will be at SUNY Cortland’s Old Main Brown Auditorium at 7 pm.
