GAME 1
Tonight’s double header was ALS Awareness night on the campus of Onondaga Community College.
Salvatore D’Anna got the start on the mound in game one for the Crush.
In the bottom of the third, the Spartans pushed across 6 runs on 6 hits and 3 walks that forced the Crush to go to the bullpen and bring in Angelo Agro to get the third out of the inning. Agro would finish the game on the mound for Cortland.
The Spartans extended their lead in the 5th inning scoring one run on one hit.
The Crush tallied 7 hits off the bats of Jake Freed (single), Evan O’Rourke (single), Max Cairo (triple), Naythen Ruehs (single), Nick Ianiello (single), and Lucas Olorvitz (single, double).
In the 7th inning, after a single from O’Rourke and a walk by Freed, Nick Ianiello singled in the first two runs of the game for the Crush. But it was too little too late as the Crush fell in game one to the Spartans.
The Crush are now 15-12 on the season with another game coming this evening against the Spartans.

GAME 2
Tonight’s double header was ALS Awareness night on the campus of Onondaga Community College.
Derek Woods got the start on the mound in game two for the Crush.
Sean Moynihan Jr got things started in the second inning with a double to left followed by a single from Aaron Izquierdo. Eric Giarnese scored both runners when he smashed a double to left field giving the Crush a 2-0 lead. Jack Coogan had an infield single to second that scored Giarnese giving the Crush a 3-0 lead heading into the third inning.
The Spartans pushed across one run in the bottom of the second and third inning after a few errors were committed by the Crush.
Zack Sperger started the 5th inning off with a walk and was later batted in when Jake Freed hit a triple to left center. Freed was sent home by a single from Nick Ianiello giving the Crush some breathing room with a 5-2 lead.
In the seventh, Nick Mahar walked, Naythen Ruehs walked, and Nick Ianiello sent both runs home on a single to center field. With three outs left the Crush were up 7-2.
Derek Woods went 5 innings allowing just 2 runs on 3 hits. John Igoe came in as relief with two shut down innings followed by Eric Fields who shut down the Spartans in the ninth to secure an important road win for the Crush!
Cortland improves to 16-12 on the season and will head to Horseheads tomorrow for a double header.
