Supporters of Cortland Repertory Theatre have been issued a fundraising challenge by a generous community member who’s matching all donations between September 1-22, committing up to $20k in total.
CRT officials say the total income loss from ticket sales related to the cancellation of their spring, summer and fall seasons is roughly $520k.
“While a small percentage of our overall budget, this Matching Challenge will help us continue to pay monthly bills, maintain our buildings and property, and keep our staff on limited salary,” said CRT producing artistic director Kerby Thompson. “Our four full-time staff members are working two days a week.”
Gifts to CRT are fully tax-deductible in the amount of what you would have paid for a ticket.
Thompson encouraged those who normally come to two summer shows to consider donating in the amount of two tickets.
“We know that COVID-19 has made times hard, and many of us are struggling to make ends meet,” said Thompson. “No donation is too small (or too big)! We welcome any amount you might be able to spare!”
Donations must be postmarked by September 22 to be included in the “Challenge Match.”
