Cortland Repertory Theatre is again offering it’s Showstoppers and Superstars and Stars of Tomorrow camps.
“We’ve been doing these camps for a number of years,” said Kerby Thompson, CRT’s Producing Artistic Director. “They’re really great for kids, even if they have no plans to go into theatre in the future.”
Thompson says there are two groups, for K-2 (Showstoppers) and grades 3-5 (Superstars) which meet at the Interfaith Center on Calvert Street in Cortland. The Musicals Theatre Adventure Camp runs July 30-August 3rd, with a performance on August 4th.
CRT’s Stars of Tomorrow provides daily theatrical workshops for students grades 5-12.
Students learn acting, singing, dancing, teamwork and problem solving over a four week camp at the pavilion at Little York Lake, July 2-27.
“It’s really helpful to get them up on stage and to pull them out of their shells,” said Thompson. “Some parents encourage their kids to do this to open them up a little bit and they’re amazed by the end of the camp how far they’ve come.”
