The presidents of both Cortland Regional Medical Center and the Guthrie Clinic held a press conference this morning announcing the official commencement of the affiliation between the two hospitals.
Cortland Regional President Mark Webster said the new partnership is a strategy the hospital has undertaken in order to continue to fulfill its mission.
“The hospital’s vision is to ensure local access to high value, integrated, patient-centered health care services. In the long term, we questioned whether or not we were going to have the resources and depth to continue to thrive and meet the community’s needs.”
Today concludes a long search that took nearly a year and a half by a team of physicians, business leaders and attorneys representing Cortland Regional Medical Center.
Now at the end of the process, Guthrie President Dr. Joseph Scopolliti is pleased to have made the final cut:
“We’re very pleased and grateful to have been selected as the finalist. Over the last months, we have constructed the documents of the deal and we required the Department of Health’s approval. We received that yesterday so we are very happy.”
A transition team including leaders from both Cortland Regional Medical Center and Guthrie will now begin the process of integrating the two organizations.
Effective January 1, 2019, the hospital will be the Guthrie Cortland Medical Center, an entity of The Guthrie Clinic.
