Early Friday evening, May 12th, around 7:15, a three vehicle crash occurred near the intersection of Route 281 and Bell Drive in the Town of Cortlandville.
After emergency personnel arrived, they found one person trapped in a vehicle. Cortlandville Firefighters used the Holmatro rescue tool to remove the driver’s side door and have the driver of the vehicle out in under 10 minutes.
The driver who was extricated was then transported to an area hospital with only minor injuries. Two others involved in the crash were also transported for evaluation.
Route 281 was briefly closed while emergency personnel worked to aid those involved in the crash and for safe cleanup. The road was closed for about an hour.
Assisting the Cortlandville Fire Department was Homer Fire Department, Dryden Ambulance, Tully Ambulance, and the Cortland County Sheriff’s Office.
The cause of the crash is under investigation.
