Cortland City Council on Tuesday approved Saturday’s annual sale of found and unclaimed bicycles by Cortland Police.
“Most of them will need a little tweaking. Some of them, not much at all,” said Deputy Police Chief Paul Sandy. “We ask a $25 donation. All the proceeds this year will go to the Water Works Deer Fund.”
Sandy says you’ll notice improvements at the Water Works such as the new sidewalk.
“Last year, we put up informational signs. This year we also put in additional stone to keep the deer healthier when they’re getting fed there and to help try to eliminate hoof problems.”
This sale is popular every year.
“It’s a great way to take these bicycles that were normally scrapped and put them back into the community for little or nothing and see them go back to a good use.”
The sale is Saturday, 8 am at the Armory on Wheeler Ave.
