Covid Concerns in Cortland County

We told you yesterday about the two Omicron Subvariants linked to 80% of the COVID cases in our state. Health officials believe that’s why Central New York has such a surge in case rates…twice the state average.

The Cortland County Health Department reminds you to take common sense precautions this Easter Holiday weekend, in case you are getting together with family and friends.

Get vaccinated and boosted, tested following exposure or symptoms, and consider wearing masks. Look for areas with proper ventilation and gather outdoors when you can.

What’s the treatment? Use of therapeutics is up considerably, Paxlovid is up 60% week to week and Molnupiravir is up 120%. Central New York is administering two to three times more Paxlovid than any other region in the state. COVID treatment works best when taken within 5 days of the onset of symptoms. If you notice symptoms, don’t wait to get tested, and don’t wait after a positive result to call your healthcare provider.

25 people in Cortland County tested positive for COVID on Tuesday.
