The CDC reported that Cortland County’s community level is now high as positive cases continue to rise.
No action is required as of this time; however, the CDC encourages the public to utilize mitigation strategies used throughout the pandemic to slow the spread of COVID-19. These strategies include:
- Getting and staying up to date with the COVID-19 vaccine
- Test when feeling symptoms or after an exposure
- Wearing a well-fitted mask regardless of vaccination status, especially in public indoor areas
- Avoid crowded and poorly ventilated areas
- Wash hands often with soap and water or use hand sanitizer when the former is not available
The CDC also reminds the public if you receive a positive COVID-19 test result, follow these steps regardless of vaccination status:
- Isolate for a minimum of 5 days, with day 0 being the day you exhibited symptoms or were tested
- Wear a well-fitted mask when out the home during the day 6 through 10
- Notify anyone you were in close contact within 2 days of the day you exhibited symptoms or were tested
- If symptoms don’t improve, continue to isolate and speak to your health care provider about available treatment options
- If your employer of school requires documentation, Affirmation of Isolation Forms can be found at Cortland-Co.org that can be filled out by yourself
