Courtney Maxson Joins X101 to Share Details of Upcoming Community Beach Party

Matt Brooks: [00:00:00] Matt Brooks here on X101 Always Classic again for another cancer prevention segment with the CSP program of Cayuga Cortland Tompkins Counties. And back in the studio with me is Courtney Maxson, senior public health educator from the Cortland County Health Department. How’s it going this morning, Courtney?
Courtney Maxson: It’s going great. Thanks.
Matt Brooks: All right. Well we, last month we talked a lot about ways to mitigate cancer from this healthy practices, especially in the summer where you need to have your, the sun lotion and all that such. And through the series we’re talking about. Resources for people to get ahold of, specifically you about like getting cancer screenings and such.
But I hear there’s actually, uh, something coming up in the next, uh, 24 hours where people can really meet the people and these resources that are available to those in Cortland County. 
Courtney Maxson: Yes, it’s gonna be great. Um, on August 7th, which is tomorrow, um, is our community beach party. Um, and that is going to go from four to seven at Yaman Park Beach.
Matt Brooks: Yep. And it’s gonna be, it’s gonna be [00:01:00] fun. There’s gonna be swimming, there’s gonna be music, we’re gonna be broadcasting live on location as well. But more importantly, I mean, we always end the segments talking about how they can get ahold of you. You have the phone number, you have the website, but tell me about some of the, uh, resources and that there’ll be a tabling at the event.
Courtney Maxson: Absolutely. So we’re having a lot of community agencies and organizations going to be there to share what they can do for our community. Our cancer services program will be there to sign people up. For our cancer screening program. We also have other great, um, community agencies, like Healthy Neighborhoods, programs for home safety, Capco, wic, uh, Lords, Guthrie, uh, mammogram Van will be there to do, uh, mammograms for women who are in need of mammograms. So come on over.
Matt Brooks: Yeah. And, and this is a great opportunity again, not only to, because that seems some people get intimidated by the phone. They’re like, oh, just, just call me. But. I mean, everybody’s there. Everybody’s a friendly face. Bring your bathing suit. Have some [00:02:00] fun. And uh, yeah, it’s tomorrow from four to seven at Yaman Park Beach.
Courtney Maxson: Yes, Yaman Park Beach. Bring, bring the family. There’ll be plenty of things to do. There’s going to be games and events at each table, and we hope to see there.
