County Unemployment Continues to Increase

The New York State Department of Labor (DOL) has released their latest preliminary numbers for local area unemployment for the month of June and Cortland County has seen another increase in the unemployment rate. The unemployment rate for Cortland County now stands at 4.1%, last month the rate was at 4%.

This time last year, the Department of Labor reports the county had an unemployment rate of 3.9% with 21,200 jobs. Cortland County currently has 21,100 jobs, according to the DOL.

For the state as a whole, the unemployment rate remained the same at 4.2% for the month of June. Cortland County remains having one of the highest unemployment rates within the Central New York Region.
