The County Finance & Administration Committee is meeting today at 10 am.
On the agenda to be discussed is paying the Cortland County BDC over a period of four years to promote and enhance economic development.
Also on the agenda is TC3’s operating budget, and a Local Law Abolishing the Elected Office of County Treasurer.
The legislature says about abolishing that position:
“The County of Cortland is being increasingly required to administer various programs which are either unfunded or not adequately funded by the State and Federal governments. Such mandates, together with the revenue constraints of the County, require the best financial administration possible.”
If this local law was to get passed, the county would transfer the duties of Treasurer to the existing position of Director of Finance as the County’s professional Chief Fiscal Officer.
We’ll have more details on this meeting soon.
