County Microenterprise Assistance Program Open – Small Businesses Could Receive Up to $35K

Cortland County says the Microenterprise Assistance Program is now accepting applications from small businesses within the county. All applications are due by April 3rd. The program is a grant initiative that is made possible by funding awarded from the Community Development Block Grant (CDBG) Microenterprise Assistance Program.

This program is designed to support both new and existing small businesses by providing crucial financial assistance that will help grow their business. Grants from the program will range from $5,000 to $35,000 with the funding available for the purchasing of equipment, inventory, working capital, and other essential business needs. The goal of the grant is to ensure long-term success for small businesses.

This program is open for microenterprises that are defined as a business with 5 or fewer employees, owner included. Businesses must also meet low-to-moderate income guidelines or demonstrate their business will create jobs for low-to-moderate income individuals.

Cortland County says the business must also be located within the county, the owner must contribute at least 10% of cash equity for the total project costs, and all participants must complete a training program focusing on strengthening business operations.
