County Mental Health Building Expected to Open in 2025
Cortland County’s new Mental Health Building is well under construction and the county says it expects the building to officially open in 2025. The new building is part of the county’s commitment in enhancing mental health resources within the community, providing expanded services offered, accessibility as well as overall support for residents.
“The new building will provide a welcoming space for individuals and families seeking care, with expanded facilities that allow for greater service capacity, specialized care, and community outreach. It will bring mental health resources directly to our community, making it easier than ever for people to access the support they need in times of challenge and recovery.” The County said in a release.
Renovation and planning on the new Mental Health Building has taken a number of years. In December 2022, the county received $5 million dollars in federal funding to help with the project from New York Senator Chuck Schumer. The new Mental Health Building will be located at the corner of Port Watson and Pendleton Streets in the City of Cortland.
The current Mental Health Department is located on Clayton Ave. in the City of Cortland in an outdated space that lacks modern needs like sufficient broadband service, critical disability accommodations, and the physical space to provide patients the amount of programs they need.
