A proposed Dollar General store in Homer moved one step closer to reality this week.
On Wednesday (February 17), the Cortland County Planning Board approved a list of contingencies that are likely the final hurdle for developers to clear.
Some of the primary concerns addressed in the updated application deal with parking, lighting, storm water management and traffic overflow.
County planners are requiring an updated review by the DOT and written confirmation showing Route 281 can handle the anticipated growth in traffic volume.
Their recommendations now head back to the village planning board for additional input.
A final determination could be coming next month.
The more than 9,000 sq. foot store would be located on the west side of S. West St. (NYS Route 281), approximately 410 ft. north of the Cayuga St. (NYS Route 90)/S. West St. (NYS Route 281) intersection.
An accessory asphalt parking lot would span 1.19+/- acre lot.
It replaces the former Super Scoops Ice Cream Shop in Homer.
