County Legislature Recognizes Legionnaire of the Year 2025
During Thursday’s Cortland County Legislative meeting for the month of September, the Legislature recognized Francis Riter, who is a member of the American Legion Post 465 in the Village of Homer. The Legislature, in a proclamation, said Fran has exemplified the highest ideals of service, leadership, and patriotism through his never-ending commitment to Veterans, their families, and the community he is a part of.
Fran was presented the Legionnaire of the Year 2025 by the American Legion Department of New York during their annual convention this past summer in Syracuse. The county says the honor reflects not only his individual achievements but also the strength, integrity, and values of American Legion Post 465 as well as its vital role in supporting veterans and fostering civic responsibility.
