Pay raises for everyone! Well, a lot of county employees. The ones we’ve reported on that are being paid considerably below market rates. The Government Operations Committee of the County Legislature today begins the process of actually raising pay, eliminating and creating positions, a lot like birds hopping to new perches. Another consideration by the committee, approval for the Board of Elections to hire 200 Poll Inspectors at $13 an hour.
The Ag/Planning and Environmental Committee also meets today to consider purchase of 3 26-passenger buses for a half-million dollars, and 5 16-passenger buses for 421-thousand dollars. Much of the cost is reimbursed. Now, the bus company just needs to hire drivers for them.
