During the Cortland County Legislature Judiciary & Public Safety Committee’s voted to authorize an agreement with Cayuga County Addiction Services for medicated assisted treatment at the Cortland County Jail.
Recent legislation signed by Governor Hochul allows those incarcerated individuals with a specific substance use disorder an opportunity to participate in a medication assisted treatment or MAT program.
Currently, Cortland County does not have a service provider that can provide the required medication for the MAT program and has chosen Cayuga County Addiction Recovery Services in Ithaca. The organization will provide the medication for the MAT program in the county jail for a fee of $75 per week, per incarcerated individual.
The agreement will still need to be reviewed and then approved by the County Attorney and then the full legislature during their monthly meeting later this month.
