County Health Department Warns of Infant Formula Recall
The Cortland County Health Department is warning residents in the community of an active infant formula recall. The health department says ByHeart Inc has voluntarily recalled two lots of their Whole Nutrition Infant Formula with lot codes of 206VABP/251261P2 and 206VABP/251131P2, and a use by date of Dec 1 2026.
According to the health department in a release, preliminary testing of this formula found bacteria that can produce botulism toxin. Though rare, infant botulism is a serious illness that may cause muscle weakness, poor feeding, breathing difficulties, and paralysis.
“Parents should immediately stop using the recalled formula, check lot numbers, and dispose of or return affected cans. Clean all bottles and surfaces that came into contact with the formula, and seek medical care right away if your baby shows symptoms such as constipation, weak cry, or difficulty breathing.” The Health Department says.
