The Cortland County Health Department says winter driving can be dangerous and motorists should remain vigilant when on the road. When driving during the winter months, the Health Department recommends keeping supplies in your vehicle in case you get stopped or stalled during bad weather.

Items motorists should keep in their vehicle include: a snow brush, jumper cables, phone chargers, water and snacks, first-aid kit, hats and gloves, blankets and hand warmers, and a full tank of gas.

The Health Department stressed is it especially important for new drivers or for those who don’t regularly drive to keep supplies as they may not be adjusted to driving in snow or slush.
