The Cortland County Health Department is recommending residents to stay informed this summer as the National Weather Service has predicted a warmer summer for our area.
Residents can stay informed about the heat index via a free app, the Health Department stated. The app is titled OSHA NIOSH FREE, which is a heat safety tool app that monitors the heat index where you’re located and sends real time alerts when levels may reach dangerously high.
The app is free to download and provides information to prevent heat related illnesses. The County Health Department also has a blog on how to stay safe when the heat increases, including tips to stay cool and safe. The blog may be found HERE.
