On Thursday, February 8th a traffic stop was conducted at 110 Port Watson in the City of Cortland by the City of Cortland Police Department and Sheriff’s Office assisting the Cortland County Drug Task Force.
The operator of the vehicle was known by officers to have a revoked Non-Driver ID. The driver was identified as 52 year old Timothy D. Lucas of Cortland. A further investigation during the stop found Lucas and one of the passengers of the vehicle, 32 year old Gina M. Rosa of Cortland, to be in possession of glassine envelopes containing fentanyl.
The second passenger of the vehicle, 38 year old Elizabeth K. Burdick of McGraw, was found to be in possession of nearly 2 grams of crack cocaine, and almost 19 grams of Molly, packaging materials and an undisclosed amount of cash. Officers say Burdick was also interfering with the investigation. The value of the drugs found was $1,150 dollars.
Lucas and Rosa were both each arrested and charged with Criminal Possession of a Controlled Substance in the 7th, a Misdemeanor. Burdick was arrested on charges of Criminal Possession of a Controlled Substance in the 3rd, a Felony, 2 counts of Criminally Using Drug Paraphernalia in the 2nd, Obstruction of Governmental Admin in the 2nd, and Possession of Synthetic Drugs, all Misdemeanors.
Both Lucas and Rosa were taken to the Sheriff’s Office and later released on appearance tickets due in Cortland City Court later this month. Burdick was also taken to the Sheriff’s Office and was processed and arraigned before then being released. She is due in Court next month.
