Cortland County has entered into an over half a million dollar contract with Elmcrest Children Services to provide programs and services for foster children and their parents. In addition, the agency will rent the former Horizon House on Grant Street.
County lawmakers voted to enter into a one-year contract with Elmcrest Children’s Center to provide parent aide, parent training, and foster care visitation services at a cost of $254 thousand dollars. The county had already contracted with Elmcrest for preventative services, so the contract was revised and the new $550 thousand dollar agreement was approved.
Elmcrest will lease the county property at 49 Grant Street for $22 thousand dollars a year in order to provide a location for the new services.
Some legislators questioned the lease amount saying that the price was too low.
