County Announces Sales Tax Meeting For Next Week

Cortland County has announced Committee Chair Paul Heider has called for a Sales Tax Review Sharing Committee meeting next Thursday, March 13th at 5pm in Room 302 at the Cortland County Office Building at 60 Central Ave. in the City of Cortland.

The previous Sales Tax Sharing Review Committee meeting for February 5th was canceled. The county has been working with the municipalities of the county on an updated sales tax collections sharing agreement. The county, along with the City of Cortland, have been looking to increase their share in the sales tax collection distribution.

Other municipalities in the county, including the Village of Homer, have expressed concern if a decrease in sales tax distribution occurs with previous Homer Mayor McCabe warning it could lead to steep cuts or a reduction in available services for the village.
