The Cortland Common Council has authorized the City of Cortland Mayor, Scott Steve to submit a letter of support for the McNeil Development Company’s planned application for funding through New York State Environmental Facilities Corporation Green Infrastructure Grant Initiative, which is for sustainable reconstruction of parking lots in the City of Cortland.

McNeil Development plans to reconstruct their large group of adjoining parking lots in Downtown Cortland. Those include the parking lots between Main St, Church St, Central Ave and Groton Ave.

The plan is to incorporate a green infrastructure while eliminating the storm water runoff from their site onto adjoining streets and local waterways.

The sustainable stormwater management practices will eliminate over 2.6 million gallons of stormwater runoff from entering the City of Cortland’s storm sewer system by absorbing, evaporating, evapotranspiration and infiltration stormwater onsite which then prevent potential pollution into the Tioughnioga river.
