Cortlandville Man to Spend Two Years in Prison on Sex Abuse Charge

A Cortland County man will spend two years in prison after admitting he forced a woman to have sexual contact with him at a home in the Village of Homer earlier this year.

37-year-old Richard Tompkins of 8 Penguin Drive appeared in county court Tuesday where was sentenced to 2 years in prison and five years of post-release supervision.

Tompkins plead guilty to a felony count of sex abuse.

Tompkins was arrested by Homer Village Police back in February after they were contacted by a 21-year-old woman who said that Tompkins had attempted to force her to have oral sex with him at a home on Wall Street.

Tompkins must also register as a sex offender. Tompkins faced up to 7 years in prison.
