This week is fire prevention week and the Cortlandville Fire Department is one of many departments providing safety tips throughout the week. One thing to note by the fire department is that fire does not wait and to be sure you have a plan in the event of a fire at your residence.
It is important to have a plan to get out in the event of a fire, but also having a secondary plan in case the primary escape is blocked off. Another tip the fire department has provided so far this week is the leading cause of house fires.
The Cortlandville Fire Department, alongside the National Fire Protection Association, say cooking fires are the leading cause of home fires and injuries. Cortlandville Fire will continue to provide tips and information throughout this week via their Facebook page.
