Members of the Cortlandville Fire Department recently attended the National Volunteer Fire Council Convention in Arlington, Virginia.
They did so in order to honor Past Homer Fire Department Chief Mahlon Irish Jr as the recipient of the James P. Seavey Award. The honor is a health and wellness leadership award, earned by Chief Irish’s many hours educating firefighters on the cancer risks associated with the fire service and how to help reduce their exposure to job-related hazards.
Cortlandville Fire’s Past Chief/Commissioner Kevin Whitney, Past Chief/Chaplin Dave Denniston and Deputy Chief Mike Biviano were on-hand to see Irish Jr receive the award.
