Cortlandville And Willet Firefighters Called Out Thursday

Local News

Among the many calls for service from area fire departments on Thursday, Willet firefighters responded to a report of a chimney fire at a home on Rt 26 around dinner time.

The address was on Rt 26 near Mills Road.

The fire was out quick enough, and Willet fire command requested use of a thermal camera from Cincinnatus to check the chimney area for any remaining hot spots.

The Cincinnatus ambulance was summoned to check one person from inside the home who was having trouble breathing.

Cortlandville firefighters needed about 15 minutes to get a man out of a pickup truck that rolled over in the driving lane of Rt 81 south Thursday morning just before 11.

The rollover was just north the Hoxie Gorge Bridge.

Passengers in the truck got out quickly and fire crews freed the driver in about 15 minutes.
