SUNY Cortland first-year women’s lacrosse head coach Kelsey Van Alstyne has been named a finalist for the 2022 Intercollegiate Women’s Lacrosse Coaches Association (IWLCA) NCAA Division III National Coach of the Year award.

The national winner, along with regional coaches of the year, will be announced in mid-July, and the award will be presented at the IWLCA annual convention in November.

Van Alstyne led Cortland to a 17-5 record this past spring. The Red Dragons won the SUNYAC regular-season title with a 9-0 mark and captured the SUNYAC tournament title with victories over Oneonta, 21-2, and Geneseo, 16-14. Cortland won two NCAA Division III tournament games, defeating Western Connecticut State, 18-8, and Roger Williams, 14-11, at home before losing at The College of New Jersey, 13-6, in the NCAA third round to tie for ninth place nationally.
