Cortland woman using Darth Vader unable to deter TSA Security at Philly Airport

A Cortland woman attempting to “use the Force” has been unsuccessful after TSA at Philadelphia International Airport discovered two knives sewn into a stuffed bear dressed as Darth Vader from Star Wars.

TSA officials noticed through their X-Ray machine two metal objects in the stuffed animal. Upon further investigation TSA officers determined the back of the animal was resewn. After removing the stitching they discovered two knives stashed inside.

“This is a good example of why we cannot assume that something as innocent-looking as a child’s stuffed animal is not a risk to security,” said Gerardo Spero, TSA’s Federal Security Director for the airport.

The child was traveling with their mother, who is a resident of Cortland, NY.

The woman’s name has not been released and is likely facing a Federal civil penalty.
