Cortland Woman Steals $1k+ Using Unauthorized Debit Card

A Cortland woman was arrested Friday (January 17) morning for grand larceny, after city police say she used a 56-year-old woman’s debit card without permission several times to steal more than $1,000 from her.

Those crimes reportedly occurred between November and December of last year.

Taken into custody was 34-year-old Nicole Evener of Charles Street, who was released to appear in city court on February 7.

Police say more charges are likely.

Unrelated area arrest:

City police also arrested 56-year-old Robert Laclair, of Church Street in Cortland, after he intentionally damaged two exterior doors at his Cortland Housing Authority apartment building by shattering the glass with a garbage can.

Laclair was charged with fourth-degree Criminal Mischief released to appear on on January 31.
