Cortland Woman Arrested for Welfare Fraud

A Cortland woman was arrested on Thursday, June 1st after an investigation conducted by the Cortland County Sheriff’s Office and the County Department of Social Services found she received benefits in excess of $2,700 she was not entitled to.


Officers arrested 32 year old Lima M. Stafford-Campbell of Cortland and charged her with Offering a False Instrument for Filing in the 1st, Welfare Fraud in the 4th, and Grand Larceny in the 4th, all Felonies.

The investigation found Campbell had submitted paperwork to the Department of Social Services which contained false information regarding her household income and compensation.

She was issued an appearance ticket and is expected to return to Cortland City Court later this month.
