The Red Dragons overcame all odds to beat the defending D3 National Champs, North Central Friday night in Salem, Virginia 38-37.
The team arrived back on Saturday evening around 6:30 to much fanfare with an escort from State Police, Cortland & Homer Police, Cortlandville, Cortland and Homer Fire Departments leading the team buses from I81 to Route 281 to SUNY Cortland.
Fans were lined up to greet the team along route 281.
Royal Auto Group even put on Fireworks as the team went by on their way to the Park Center where more fans were on hand to greet and celebrate with the team.
Cortland became the first team from the state of New York to win the Division III National Championship, since Ithaca in 1991. The Red Dragons finish the year with their first National title in program history at 14-1.
