Cortland SPCA’s For the Love of Paws Fundraiser Raises Over $2,100 – Pet Supplies Plus of Cortland Donates Over $4,000 of Much-Needed Supplies
The Cortland County SPCA’s “For the Love of Paws” fundraiser last Saturday brought in more than $2,100, Mayor Scott Steve highlighted during his mayoral report Tuesday night.
The fundraiser, held at the Homer Elks Lodge, featured raffle baskets, a 50/50 drawing, and other activities aimed at raising money for the organization. The SPCA has recently been dealing with ongoing thefts of cans and bottles, which are typically collected as part of its fundraising efforts.
“We want to extend our deepest gratitude to the many local businesses here in Cortland County, the larger businesses from surrounding counties, and the talented local craft vendors and makers who generously donated items, sponsored pieces of the event, and shared their time and talent with us,” the SPCA said in a social media post. “Whether you have a storefront, a growing small business, a regional presence, or you create beautiful handmade items from your kitchen table — you made this event possible.”
The organization also recognized members of its board, especially Board Secretary Jade, who dedicated significant time to help ensure the event was a success.
In addition to the funds raised at the event, the SPCA announced that Pet Supplies Plus of Cortland recently donated much-needed food, toys, and supplies valued at more than $4,000. The donation will help support pet care at the shelter and assist families who rely on the SPCA’s pet food pantry to feed animals at home.
