The Cortland County SPCA will be participating in the “Empty the Shelters” event this coming Friday and Saturday. During the event all adult dogs and cats will be available for adoption for only $50.

This is the SPCA’s first year participating in the national event, which consists of over 350 shelters. The event was created by BISSELL Pet Foundation and Dogtopia to help end pet homelessness.

The Cortland SPCA will be open for adoptions between the hours of 12pm to 4:30 pm both days (Friday, Saturday), and the adoption fee of $50 will include spay/neuter surgery, FIV/FeLV test for cats, up-to-date vaccinations, microchip and registration, flea treatment, deworming and a bag of pet food.

Adult animals are considered 1 year or older and for dogs, they may be subject to an additional municipal license fee between $10 and $15. The SPCA encourages anyone who is interested in adopting to fill out an adoption application ahead of time. Priority will be given to those who arrive with approved applications. You may find applications HERE.

The Cortland County SPCA is located on McLean Road in Cortlandville and is always accepting donations.
