The Cortland County Sheriff’s Department is warning Cortland residents that law enforcement agencies will never contact the public and have them pay US Currency directly or request to be paid with any kind of gift card.
This will also include donations to your local law enforcement agencies. The Sheriff’s department wants you to never give out personal information to anyone over the phone if you do not know or do business with that person.
If you suspect you are being targeted by a potential scam call your local law enforcement agency.
