A nationwide milk carton shortage for half pint milk cartons has begun to affect Central New York.
The shortage appears to be due to demand exceeding supply and does not affect the supply of milk itself. Half pint milk cartons are primarily used in schools, nursing homes, hospitals, prisons and other facilities. In a statement to X101, Cortland School Superintendent Bob Edwards says they’re working with Assemblymember Anna Kelles and State Senator Lea Webb’s offices as well as regionally with other school leaders to explore different responses to the ongoing situation.
