Cortland School District Considering Closing Two Schools, Sets Another Public Forum

Local News

According to a letter (below) sent home Thursday to parents of students at Cortland’s Parker Elementary school, the School Board may decide to close two elementary school buildings, Parker and Virgil.

That could lead to a reconfiguration of the remaining three school buildings in the district.

On Tuesday, the Board of Education weighed the merits of possibly assigning all K-2 students to Barry, grades 3-4 at Smith, and grades 5 and 6 at Randall.

None of this is decided yet and the Board scheduled another public forum for April 16th at 6:30 at the high school auditorium as it continues to develop its plan to fight declining enrollment and a projected budget deficit.
