The Cortland County Sheriff’s Office and the Cortland County Department of Social Service have arrested 34 year old Amy E. Santos of Cortland for DDS Fraud on November 30th.
Through an investigation by both departments, it was determined Santos filled fraudulent paperwork in the month of September 2021 with the county Department of Social Services regarding her household composition.
The investigation also found Santos failed to provide the required income information as required by law. The result led to Santos receiving benefits in total over $2,700 dollars, which Santos was entitled to.
She was arrested and issued and charged with Offering a False Instrument for Filing in the 1st, Welfare Fraud in the 4th, and Grand Larceny in the 4th, all Felonies. Santos was given appearance tickets and released to reappear in Cortland City Court at a later date.
