The Cortland Repertory Theatre was one of the over 1,200 art organizations and artists that were awarded grant funding from the New York State Council on the Arts.
The Cortland Repertory Theatre received a grant totaling $40,000 and the Cultural Council of Cortland County received $10,000 dollars.
The overall amount of grants distributed in the state amounted to nearly $45 million dollars.
“For hundreds of years, artists from around the world have called New York their home because of our culture, diversity, and creativity,” Governor Hochul said. “Their innovations fuel our economy, our tourism industry and the health and well-being of our communities, and this year’s historic commitment will spur our continuing recovery from the pandemic and set the course for a stronger future.”
The goal of the grants provided is to assist the organizations as they return to pre-pandemic levels of capacity and creation. Since an overhaul in the NYSCAs funding strategies back in 2021, funding has increased by 400% and has been able to award grants to 83% of first time applicants.
