Cortland Regional Sports Council Celebrates 20 Years

Last week, the Cortland Regional Sports Council (CRSC) celebrated a major milestone as the agency celebrated 20 years of operations. The CRSC was founded in 2004 as a result of hosting the 2002 Empire State Senior Games. The agency’s mission is to promote the county for any and all sports related business, events, competitions and education.

“It’s been a ride, that’s for sure. I think when we started this, we really didn’t have any idea of what it was going to evolve into and to look back at where we started. This is where we are, it’s tremendous.” Machell Phelps, Executive Director of the CRSC said to X101 News.

Phelps has served as Executive Director since the beginning of the Sports Council. Her work has brought the success of the Empire State Senior Games year-after-year to the Cortland Area as well as bringing in numerous high school championship games. More information on the Cortland Regional Sports Council may be found online HERE.
