Cortland Public Education Foundation Announces Their Fall ‘24 Grants


The Cortland Public Education Foundation (CPEF) has announced their grants for fall of 2024. The CPEF, was founded back in 2005 by the former superintendent of Cortland Schools, Dr. Lutz, with a mission to enhance the quality of education for students within the City of Cortland School District.

Grant awardees are as follows below:

  • Audio Amplification System: Awarded $812 for one amplification system at Barry Primary School.
  • Art Easels / Drafting Tables: Awarded $700 for 24 table-top easels and also two drafting tables for art classes at Smith Intermediate School.
  • Green Tech in the Makerspace: Awarded $946 to expand opportunities by introducing both Jr. and Sr. high school students to future green tech careers. Items include: air compressors, Sea PErch robotics kits, an AI robotic arm, and solar exploration kits.
  • Live Sound Gear for Modern Band: Awarded $987 that will go towards purchasing equipment for live performances. Items include a mobile PA system, a mic for guitar amps, and more.
  • Banding Wheel: Art Supplies: Awarded $504 for 20 banding wheels for us at the High School ceramics and sculpture class.

Total amount of funding awarded was $3,949. Funding given out through the grants are raised by the organization’s annual golf tournament that is held every July, and generous donations from local businesses and members of the Cortland community.
