Cortland Police Shut Down “Outdated” Complaint Desk

The Cortland Police Department complaint desk closed yesterday. Chief Paul Sandy says it is outdated, and wants that officer on the street instead of behind a desk.

That means City Hall will be locked at the end of the business day and on weekends. Sandy says officers are responding to more calls that need two or more officers to handle, and he points to Bail Reform as one reason for that.

As a reminder, if you have an emergency for police in Cortland, call 9-1-1. If you are calling the offices, you’ll be given options for your call.
